West Texas Food Bank

SNAP Outreach

The Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) replaced food stamps as one of the nation’s most important defenses against hunger. WTFB has a SNAP Outreach program to increase SNAP enrollment, including application assistance, education, and outreach to help West Texans overcome participation barriers. Assistance is free to applicants that reside in our 19-county service area.

In fiscal year 2014, WTFB provided access to 325,000 meals through SNAP—generating a local economic impact of $1.3 million dollars.

SNAP Outreach

Thanks to our partnership with Feeding Texas, as well as a grant from the Texas Health and Human Services Commission, WTFB has a Social Services Coordinator to assist hungry West Texans. WTFB’s outreach coordinator answers questions about the SNAP application process, and helps clients complete and submit applications. The outreach coordinator also assists with applications for the Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP), Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF), and Medicaid.
