Hunters for the Hungry

Through Hunters for the Hungry (HFTH), avid hunters provide much-needed protein to hungry Texans. The program started in 1990 through a collaborative effort among hunger-relief partners, avid hunters and state government partners, with more than 90 meat processors offering their services to the program. Hunters simply bring their deer to a partnering meat processor and pay a designated fee for the processing – usually much lower than for regular processing. That is it for the hunter! The processor skins the deer, processes the venison, packages it in family sized portions, freezes it and then calls us to pick it up! Hunters for the Hungry is now active statewide. For more information about the program and a list of participating processors throughout Texas, go to http://tacaa.org/participating-meat-processors.
