The West Texas Food Bank and its partner agencies - including the Food Pantry of Alpine, the Food Pantry of Jeff Davis County and Family Crisis Center of the Big Bend - are offering clients $10 vouchers to spend on a turkey of their choice at any local store.
Clients may take the vouchers into a grocery store and use them like checks.
"It's a win-win situation because the money goes right back into our economy, and partner agencies don't have to worry about order, transporting and distributing turkeys," said Paige Phelps, director of marketing and community relations for the Food Bank. The vouchers are made possible by the support of the Abell-Hanger Foundation.
