West Texas Food Bank Receives $10,000 Grant and Turkey Donation from Target Stores April 14, 2008

El Paso, TX – West Texas Food Bank announced today that it has received $10,000 and 200 Turkeys to help families in need this spring.

Target’s commitment to America’s Second Harvest and its member food banks are supported through Target’s Foundation. Since 2001, donations have doubled and today they donate over 14 million pounds of food each year. With nearly 1,600 stores in 47 states, Target is honored to serve as a resource to food banks across the country.

“Target is a wonderful partner with the West Texas Food Bank and all America’s Second Harvest Food Bank members across the nation. The grant of $10,000 will go a very long way in bringing food into the area and helping us get it onto the tables of those who need it. A turkey can make several healthy meals for each family receiving one. We appreciate Target’s commitment to making our community a better place to live, and we hope this partnership continues for a long, long time” said Hyta Folsom, Executive Director. Target’s Human Resources John Wooten says “It is our pleasure to be able to support our own community in this way. Target frequently talks about giving $3 million dollars every week to the communities that we serve. This is just a wonderful example of how this works. We sincerely hope that this grant and these turkeys will help the West Texas Food Bank accomplish their goals in bringing food to people who really need it. Thanks to the WTFB for all that they do for the people in our community!!
